I finally made it to Crater Lake. Two years ago when I was in Roseburg it was snowed in. One other time, years ago, I was very close when I went to Portland via Hwy 97

Yuma, Arizona

Of Course, as everyone knows, Yuma is famous for it's Sand Dunes, but few people realize, the city is actually mostly built on a huge Sand Dune. Located at the confluence of the Gila and the Colorado River, the native people have farmed this rich valley for centuries, however, as in most of the Arizona valleys, flooding is regular and sometimes severe. In many places, the Pueblos were located high above the valleys, even in the cliffs adjacent. It must have been quite a hike to the river to farm the crops. In the Yuma area, this has not been a problem, since the sand rises steeply out of the valley floor, and it was possible to live right above the Flood Plain.

This was naturally appealing to the White Settlers, as well, and indeed, there was never a problem getting water. Shallow wells provided all the irrigation water needed, and it was only necessary to build dikes high enough to keep out the floods. To be sure, at various times, the unpredictable Colorado River, following heavy Snow Melt flooded the entire valley, wiping out anyone in it's path. Since the building of the Imperial Dam 20 miles north, however, the river was tamed once and for all and Arizona Farmers are assured of a constant water supply, having carved out a deal with the water hungry Californians, whereby, they are still only using about half of their allottment.

The Imperial Dam Diversion provides water for eight different Water and Irrigation Districts. The Yuma Mesa actually receives water from three of these, so there is no shortage of water in Yuma at this time. To be sure, there are a few rock out-croppings within City Limits, but for the most part, The City sits on pure sand. Immediately off this huge mesa, the irrigation farming starts and runs for as far as the eye can see.

The Yuma Proving Ground

This really is an Ol' War Horse. I counted around a hundred scars on it from getting hit with various calibers of machine gun fire on this Sherman Tank. Some are visible in the Photo.

This is a Motorized Anti-Aircraft Gun. I don't know if you can tell, but it is Double Barrelled.

This is not actually a Tank, but a Mobile Mortar Launcher.

First time I ever saw a Tank Crossing Sign.

This is the Helicopter at the Front Entrance to the Yuma Proving Grounds.

Vincent's Angina Ulcer. (Trench Mouth of the Tonsil)

Trench Mouth and Hydrogen Peroxide

You may be interested in the bottom line on the Trench Mouth Discussion. Trench Mouth is caused primarily by Staphylococcus Aureus. Poor Dental Hygiene is a contributing factor, and Soldiers suffered from it while in the trenches in World War I, hence the name. It can be very painful and does not heal well with simple Mouthwashes of alcohol base. One needs to rinse the mouth thoroughly several times a day with 3% Hydrogen Peroxide. Doctors and Dentists will usually prescribe Antibiotics, yet they use the Hydrogen Peroxide to sterilize their equipment. It is about the cheapest treatment you can find for all kinds of things that may ail you, including HIV/AIDS. I had been treating my current much milder case with E & J Brandy as a topical mouthwash, but it has not responded in four days. Tody, after a little research, I headed for Walgreen's. A Twenty Dollar Bill bought me a fresh bottle of E & J, 135 Softgels of Omega-3 Fish Oil; 1000 mg, 120 tablets of C1000 plus Rose-Hips, and a 16 ounce bottle of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide. A pretty cheap fix for a lot of what ails me, say I.

It should be noted that Doctors in America are resisting these cheap medical treatments and in so doing are causing the problem to get worse. I am pretty certain I got this current infection from the hot tub at the motel I am at. This pretty well tells you it is a resistant strain, like the last Ear Infection I got at a similar Hot Tub in West Fargo, North Dakota, some years ago. These resistant strains of Staphylococcus Aureus are caused by Doctors prescribing antibiotics.

Donna's Brother, Steve, In Mexico

Steve and Donna With Josh at Puerto Penasco.
Donna and I along with Josh, journeyed to Puerto Penasco, with a single sheet of paper containing address and telephone number information, to find Donna's brother, Steve, who has been here for seven years and no one had heard from him in over three.

I knocked on the first trailer door I could find to talk to a Mexican who might know where to find Steve. He took me to the local store, where Josh bought a bottle of Mexican Coke, for $2.00 minus 2 Pesos. The gal there tried the 'Phone number that we had been trying in the States with no luck. It got us right through to Steve, and I talked with him briefly, before heading up-town to meet with him. Most of the streets are dirt and there are no street signs, so there is no way we would have found him without the Telephone call. Ten minutes later, we were following his blue Neon to his humble abode in Puerto Pinasco, Sonora, Mexico.

He had brought two travel trailers with him to Mexico and built a sort of Kitchen/Dining area between them out of scraps of lumber, seven years ago. His girl-friend has a son who lives in one of the trailers. He has a third trailer in the yard that he rents out to another fellow...two dogs and a couple cats make up the rest of the family. He has to go outside and then into another lean-to shed to shower or go to the bathroom. He has still another little shed for his shop, but he keeps his tools in the trunk, because if he puts them in the shed, they will get stolen.

Glacial Extension Since Time of Christ

Chart Showing Glacial Extension around the world since the Time of Christ
This Chart was published on the QUATERNARY & ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES of Arizona Website. The obvious reference is to show the effects of Global Warming in the 20th Century and beyond. What I was the most struck by, was the fact that that period of time from about 100 years before Christ to 100 years after represent the most major period of Glacial Recession on the chart. Far more extreme to date than the present Period of Cars and Industry. My contention is that the World was visibly warmed by the Omnipotent presence of Our Saviour, and the reason we are seeing this happening again, is in preparation for His Second Coming. After all, Christ walked the face of the Earth in Sandals. You could hardly expect Him to want it cold here while He is around.

Roe vs Wade; Revisited

Lately, the newest topic of discussion on the Northup Family Yahoo Group, has been the issue of abortion, which has been hotly contested since The Supreme Court through Roe v. Wade in 1973 formally legalized abortion. This topic came back into the attention of the media following the Bush Administration's attempts to get a more Conservative Court through the appointment of two key Supreme Court justices. Also, in November, former President Jimmy Carter, interviewed by reporters about his upcoming book, "Our Enduring Values-America's Moral Crisis", stated: "I never have felt that any abortion should be committed - I think each abortion is the result of a series of errors...I've never been convinced, if you let me inject my Christianity into it, that Jesus Christ would approve abortion...I have always thought it was not in the mainstream of the American
public to be extremely liberal on many issues."

Of course, to add to the mix, Norma McCorvey, who was the "Jane Roe" in the Roe v. Wade suit, has changed her opinion on the matter, 23 years after she first brought suit against then Dallas County District Attorney Henry Wade, because he denied her the right to an abortion. Now, she is bringing a new suit against the current Dallas County District Attorney Bill Hill, asking that the previous decision be over-turned. The New Orleans-based 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed to hear McCorvey's arguments March 2, 2004. On Sept. 14, the 3 judge panel rejected the opportunity to re-open litigation, basing its ruling on procedural grounds.

I have always been opposed to abortion on a personal level, exactly as Jimmy Carter has outlined, however I have also always favored Roe v. Wade, based on an assumption it was saving a lot of young women from coming under the knife of illegal Abortion doctors in back alleys all over the country. Seems like many people have forgotten this aspect of the whole issue. It has been reduced to the simple analogy, "Choice versus Life". Nothing is ever this simple, unfortunately. Early on, I made the statement that I knew one gal, violently opposed to abortion on moral grounds, who paid for two abortions for her teen-age daughter.

My contention is and always has been that every case is unique and needs to be studied on a case by case basis. The High Court has consistently rejected all attempts by various venues attempting to circumvent Roe vs Wade. Essentially, what they accomplished in the 1973 decision was to prevent a single county or municipality from making any sort of law regarding abortion. This right they reserved for the highest court in the land. The Federal Government has spoken, "We hold this right to be self-evident..."

Worshipping Edgar Cayce

Of late, The talk around the Northup Family Group E-Mail has centered around discussion of whether or not the celebrated Mystic, Edgar Cayce was an authentic Christian motivated by the Holy Spirit, or if Satan was using him to lead people astray. The most recent development was the claim by David Wilcock that he is the reincarnation of Edgar Cayce.

Mostly, the Christian leadership is claiming that anyone who believes in reincarnation can have no part with Christianity, but of course, Cayce himself wrestled with this apparent contradiction and read the Bible over at least once for every year of his life, in an effort to maintain a proper Biblical perspective. He came to the conclusion that Reincarnation in no way is contradictory to Bible Teaching, and was , in fact, right in line with his own beliefs on the subject.

Now, of late, many question the sincerity of anyone who can even consider the possibility that Edgar Cayce, or for that matter, David Wilcock, has a place in Christian Theology. It has been pointed out that Jesus Himself was a Mystic and did many things that were considered heretic by the Church Leaders of his own day. And, as a matter of fact, anyone today who would claim to be doing any of the same things that were done as a matter of course by Christ and His Apostles, and indeed by their followers in the early Christian Church, would be condemned by the Mainline Christian Churches, in spite of the fact that Christ Himself made the claim that: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.", which can be found in the 14th Chapter of John, Verse 12. And yet, these same Christian Leaders of the day claim Jesus Christ to be worthy of our Worship as being actually God Incarnate, a one third part of a Trinity God.

One has only to look to the very words of our Lord and Saviour to know that he claimed no such high station for himself. In John, Chapter 5, Beginning with Vs 30: "I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true." and again in Chapter 8, beginning with Vs 28: "Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am [he], and [that] I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him."

This does not sound to me like someone who is seeking his own Glory. Jesus gave all the Glory to The Father. I maintain that Edgar Cayce gave all the Glory to the Father, and he considered Jesus, the Christ to be "His Elder Brother". In fact, Paul, in the Letter to the Romans, made the following statement, beginning in Vs 16: "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together." And also in Galations: "And if ye [be] Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." This seems to maintain that we are also Heirs to the Jewish Promise of being God's Chosen People. It should be abundantly clear why Edgar Cayce would consider Jesus to be His Elder Brother. In fact, Cayce claims the Promise of Living a Christ Life is for all Believers. Jesus was the Man, Christ is the attainable Goal for all Christians.
